DUI Defense

PROTECTING YOU AND YOUR REPUTATION

Being charged with a DUI comes with more than just fines and potential jail time. You could be facing a permanent mark on your record which could affect your driving privileges as well as other future decisions. We highly recommend that if you are facing DUI charges, especially a 2nd or 3rd offense, that you contact a criminal defense lawyer sooner rather than later. Taking these charges seriously could mean safeguarding your future and diminishing the worst of consequences.

DUI Penalties in Alabama

Alabama has serious DUI Penalties on its books. Even first time convictions can come with heavy fines and possible jail time. 1st time convictions are misdemeanors, unless there are aggravating factors, and they come with a mandatory 90-day license suspension. Second time convictions come with heavier fines, jail time, and longer license suspension (1 year). A third-conviction within 5 years means a person is facing a three year license suspension. However, there are caveats and aggravating factors to all these possible charges.

DEFENDING AGAINST THE WORST OUTCOMES

If you have been charged with a DUI, seek adequate legal representation as soon as possible. Having a lawyer to represent you in your first hearing and throughout your case is of importance. Hiring legal representation can help you keep your driving privileges, lower the bail amount, and potentially lighten the worst consequences.
